a summary of week 1

Sunday we arrived at the hostfamily, they showed us our room and after that while enjoying a cup of tea they tried to explain to us what the best way to the station, our school and the nearest supermarket is. They found out that it would be easier to show us the way, so we got a nice morning walk and after they showed us which way to go they got back home and we could explore the area.

Monday we got our first lesson at Uxbridge! Exciting!! We had the class make-up and found out there was a girl in the group who had lived in Holland a couple of years ago. They were practicing asian make-up and we served as models. At the end of the lesson, miss Hoeve and miss te Riet came by to see how everything was going. After school we went the Costa to get a drink with our teachers, it was really nice and we had a great time!

Tuesday we learned how to put fake eyelashpieces on one another's eyes, it was very fun to do and quickly we got the hang of it. After school we thought is was a fun idea to go to white city for some shopping, we ended up walking around there for an hour because we couldn't find any shops. when we got into the bus home we saw a really REALLY big building that said 'Westfield' on it. When we got at our house we looked it up on the internet and found out that was the mall we were looking for...

Wednesday we had practical lessons and Tasmen (teacher) teached us about how to do EMS faradic treatments (miss te Riet probably would have loved this lesson), she showed us how to do a padding treatment. after that we had body-art and we could try it on eachother.

Thursday we had practical and there were a lot of appointments, there were a few girls who's client hadn't show up but they had to do their assessment, so I (Romy) volunteered to get myself waxed. They learn it so much different then we do. After the teacher shows it to them they have to practice it on clients untill they think they are good enough to do the assessment.. The girl that worked on me still had a lot to learn but she completed the assessment anyway so she did it right I think.

Friday we agreed upon doing the assignment with the whole group, we had a great time and saw a lot of beautiful typical things of London, after we had finished the assignment (and finally found somewhere to lunch) the shopping weekend had begun.

Saturday we went shopping with the two of us and in the evening we had a drink with Tessa and Mariana. Sunday morning we went to Tessa and Mariana's place and thought about going to Westfield (this time for real). we had a great afternoon and after going to the mall we went to their house again and stayed there for a little while longer. It was a lovely day.

Over all it was a great week, we had to adjust most of all to the time when we have dinner, it took a little while but we got the hang of it after all.
It's a lot different from what we're used to but we managed to organize it on our own little by little. It's exhausting to see and experience all these new things but it's definitely worth it!
